Symposium Cafe Restaurant Ajax

We had an incredibly disappointing experience at Symposium Cafe. We made a reservation for 10 people, including two infants, and were seated right by the door despite the restaurant being empty. The cold air kept coming in, making it very uncomfortable for everyone, especially the babies. We politely brought this up to who we believe was the manager, and he dismissed our concerns without any acknowledgment or effort to accommodate us. When we tried to move the babies to the end of the table, away from the draft, the same manager complained that we were “blocking the path” for staff, despite there being at least 7–8 feet of clear space between our table and the next. On top of that, the service was abysmal. We ordered food, including kids’ pancakes, which, in most restaurants, are brought out first. Instead, my son received his food last, long after most of us had finished eating. How does a simple kids’ pancake take so long to prepare? After we finished our meal, we sat for about 45 minutes without any attention from our server. She never once checked on us and seemed more interested in chatting with her coworkers than providing basic service. When we eventually flagged her down for the bills, it took another 10 minutes for her to bring them over. The only positive was that the food was decent, but the horrible customer service ruined the entire experience. If you’re looking for a restaurant with attentive staff and good service, this is not the place. We won’t be returning and would caution others to avoid it unless the management and staff seriously improve their approach to customer care.

This Christmas, I had the absolute pleasure of dining at symposium in Ajax, and it was nothing short of spectacular! Here are some highlights that make me eager to return: Me and my family of 5 were looking for a Restaurant to dine in spontaneously and we are happy that Symposium made our Christmas Day even more special. 1.Warm and Festive Ambiance: From the moment I stepped in, the cozy, festive decor immediately put me in the holiday spirit. The twinkling lights, beautifully adorned Christmas tree, and soft carols created the perfect holiday vibe. My kids loved it too 2.Exceptional Service: The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, even on such a busy day. They greeted us with warm smiles, checked in regularly without being intrusive, and ensured everything was perfect. Our server and his jokes made our day. 3.Mouthwatering Menu: The Christmas special menu was delightful! Even though the restaurant was packed, food came in on time and with good quality. The desserts, especially the carrot cake, were a treat to the taste buds. 5.Value for Money: Despite the high-quality food and impeccable service, the pricing was very reasonable. It felt like a true Christmas gift to enjoy such an experience without breaking the bank. If you’re looking for a place that captures the essence of the holidays with excellent food, top-notch service, and a festive atmosphere, Symposium is a must-visit. I hope you will see this and I will make you smile as you guys made me and my family smile yesterday. Cheers!

The food, service, and atmosphere were all outstanding—everything exceeded expectations! I will definitely recommend it. We opted for the breakfast menu, but I noticed others enjoying their lunch, and they seemed equally delighted! Waffle were sooooo yummy

I was part of a group of 60 people, and they managed it very efficiently. Food was great as well. Restaurant is clean, and high ceiling gives a spacious athmosphere. They have kids menu too. ☺️

Symposium is always a to go spot late at night in Ajax when you want something tasty and a sweet treat to top it off! Took advantage of their Wednesday special and they were delicious and a good portion and then was recommended the caramel brownie, and it was perfect amount of fudge and caramel! Our server Hannah was super delightful and attentive and made all the right recommendations and made us feel super welcome. Our water glasses were never empty. Our drinks were served cold. The music is never too loud, and the lights are never too bright! Thank you, Hannah for taking good care of us!

Great food and atmosphere, but waitress couldn’t seem to get our breakfast order right. All worked out in the end, and so we will be back!

Severely disappointed with the quality of food. Everything was disappointing. The eggs Benedict, the chicken schnitzel, and especially the fish and chips. Fish was really fishy tasting and the batter was too much and too greasy. The service was great but that doesn’t warrant a return

Visited a few days ago, great service and very a very visually appealing restaurant. The food was quick and tasted amazing. All the staff were very kind. I saw a review on mice on the patio, not quite sure why you would bash a restaurant on animals being outside… I see the workers constantly cleaning and sweeping inside and outside. There’s only so much they can do about mice being outside and definitely not fair to give a bad review on. All in all a great experience.
