Sushi California

Whenever my wife and I are down at our home in Toronto, this is always our go-to sushi spot. In terms of the relationship between price and quality, I have not seen better in Ontario. We had our first date ever here and have been regular customers since. The place can get busy and have wait times during peak hours as the spot is relatively small given the real estate in Toronto. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

If you’re looking for the best bang for your buck, this place has you covered. The sushi trays are super cheap for the amount of food you get. Are there better sushi places in the city? Short answer - yes. However, none are as affordable as this place. Love this place.

I wanted to visit this place because of the reviews, when we got there it was packed (which I thought was a good sign). We managed to get a private table, which was amazing, but the 'call' button wasn’t working, so we had to wait until we saw someone to order (they were ignoring us because they expected us to use the button). To be fair, the sushi tasted good, though it was supposed to be spicy but wasn’t🧐 The size of the sushi is very big to eat on one bite. The tempura is supposed to be delicate, but too much batter made it too greasy, it seemed like they were made in a rush and carelessly (see the picture). The seafood yaki udon was meh. As for the octopus takoyaki, I don’t know if they are supposed to be that way, but the smell was so strong and bad that we tried it and had to leave it. 😷 It made me sick until next day. In summary, I guess it could be a good place to eat cheap sushi if you don’t care about how authentic it is, because it does taste good.

Can't find the way to describe enough how good is this place! First of all staffs are always nice and friendly and made you feel welcome every time! The price is very good compare to the portion. Good quality of sushi and sashimi. If you go there around dinner time then be prepare to wait for a while as they usually busy. We always go on Friday for dinner time and wait for about 15 minutes max it sometime no need to wait at all. It might take them a while to come take your order but food come out sooooo fast!!!!! I'm amazed every time how it was so fast!!!!

Tried this place cause I heard they had great quality for the price and it is absolutely true. The sushi is fresh and tasty and the portions are enormous. The sashimi slices were double the size of a regular one. In terms of quality sushi preparation it's not good but value wise it was awesome. The Chicago roll was great. The sushi pizza was also nice but I wish it had less crab and more rice and salmon. The sashimi and sushi tasted great but like mentioned the slices were too large and hard to eat. Even the roll was difficult to take in one bite. The location is pretty beat up hence one less star but Overall one of the best bangs for your buck sushi in Toronto.

A very busy spot ... Because they prepare and serve really delicious food at a great price point. You may need to wait 5 - 10 minutes to get a seat, but the turnover isn't too bad. I think they do a LOT of take out, so the staff seems to struggle to meet their in-house demand as well as their takeout. But it's worth the wait, and all the staff are as friendly as could be ...
