Maipai

It's not worth the hype people! You aren't missing out on anything special. Pizza is not Detroit pizza. It's more like toppings, sauce, on regular bread, and a pretty sad one. There is nothing special about cocktails either apart from the glasses. I can't even give a disappointing review because everything was just mediocre. The vibe was lethargic, just like this review. The service was worse than the food, not even a smile from a single person attending us. They aren't interested in knowing if you have any questions or to help you out if you need some suggestions, assistance in choosing the right drink, or the food. They come to you asking if you want to order pizza? And if you start your reply with anything other than yes, you will see the person vanishing in front of your eyes, pure magic! It was as if they were doing some sort of favor by letting us dine in 😆 $80 for 2 people at this place, absolutely avoidable.

Second time there in a month and we will be coming back frequently. Last time we had the pleasure of being served by Josh the Bartender who spent some time on the floor. Total legend. We've had a bunch of food there now between our 2 visits and our favourites have been the Pickle Nick Fries and the pepperoni pile on pizza. Oh and the gojugang/buffalo wings. Cocktails are so good and love how unique the ingredients and cups are. The Do You Wanna wasn't bad, but wasn't nearly as much sausage as I was expecting. Maybe it's because we were the last seating of the night and they were running low? Wouldn't get that pizza again based on how it came out but otherwise fabulous experience at Mai Pai.

I've been to the Buddy's Pizza in Detroit, the creator of the Detroit pizza. It became my favorite pizza immediately!! & I find Maipai very comparable. I had the Supreme, my wife had the pickle pizza, & my daughter had the garlic pizza. We were all very happy with our choices & left with some leftovers as well as sore stomachs from eating too much. Oh & the chicken wings are awesome as well. 👍

After waiting more than 5 years to try Maipai, I finally had the chance to get it. I was so excited for it, and my expectations were surpassed. Got the pepperoni pile on, it was the best pizza I've ever had !!! The crust is thick, but light and airy, not doughy. No heartburn afterwards. The crunch from the crowning cheese is fantastic and overall blown away by the pizza. Next time I want to eat in, but currently there is a 3 week waiting list for reservations. Thank you Maipai :)

Amazing vibe and fantastic food. We have the parm fries, dry rub and soy honey wings for apps. Pizza we chose the pickle and pile on pepperoni. The hype is real- can’t wait to eat here again. Also great cocktails and staff is wonderful

It took our party 2 months to get the 12 of us in but it was SO worth it! From floor to ceiling this place is Tiki themed! Easter island heads, palm trees, grass, you name it. The atmosphere really takes you away and makes you forget how small the place is. Being a larger party we were split into 2 tables of 6 and our server, Kelsey, never missed a beat. From drinks and constant water refills to a bowl full of dips and making sure we all had space, she was on top of EVERYTHING. and the food? Oh the food! I had a House Salad for $12 which was practically a meal in itself. It could've used a bit more dressing or some on the side but it was DELICIOUS. I ordered the small Do You Wanna? With nduja sausage, and fig jam and the flavour combo was out of this world. You truly do fill up on two pieces, maybe push a third without a salad but it is HEAVY. Hubby got the Supreme which was FULLY loaded with toppings, from black olives to red sauce and was so so good even with leftovers. Seating is sparse so make reservations if you can, or pop in and wait. It is so worth it and we can't wait to be back!

Went here with a friend on a Friday night without a reservation. The wait time for seats at the bar was ~40 minutes but it was definitely worth the wait. We split a small Basic Pepperoni and Parm Fries and each got a Hawaiian Sunset. The food was delicious and so filling! The service was great and I loved the atmosphere. In addition to their usual unique decor, they had Halloween decor up as well which made for a very fun vibe!

This place is in the middle of nowhere! It is a hidden gem in an otherwise rundown street with very few businesses still open. Having said that, this place didn't disappoint. It offers interesting pizza toppings on a thick but light dough with crispy edges. Don't order the large unless you plan to share it or you haven't eaten in days! I couldn't get past 2 square pieces. This place has very tasty and interesting cocktails. The ambiance is upbeat and colourful. The service was friendly and quick. I suggest you make reservations. We were lucky to get two seats at the bar.
