The Zen Caribbean Restaurant

We ordered chicken chilli fried rice and pepper shrimp. Taste was good for both, i just felt that the chilli chicken pcs were a bit dry. However overall taste, quality and food was really good.

Its not a very large place at the Ajax location. Takeout service was excellent, very friendly and welcoming staff. First time trying Zen out, so I went with the Zen Special Fried Rice, Special Low Mein, and the Peppered Shrimp. Overall the Fried Rice and Lo Mein was quite good, but a little on the pricier side compared to other restaurants offering the same dish. The Peppered Shrimp however was very good and I would buy that again. I recommend anyone to try out Zen Restaurant for themselves.

Came by around 1:30pm with friends. Take out only spot with a long sidebar table by the window with a few seats. Ordered the lunch special “Zen House Chicken” and upgraded to veggie fried rice. My total came up to just over $11. My friends both ordered the “Jerk Chicken” plate one small & one large. One thing I’d say is that the meat to rice ratio is favouring more rice as there wasn’t as much chicken as I’d expect but overall still enjoyed. My friends enjoyed the jerk chicken and it came with a side of coleslaw which was also great. I’d say to give this place a try!

Decent place with not too bad food. Though menu is not the ideal Caribbean. It is mostly Chinese infusion. They don’t really do table service but packaged food can be eaten at the service area. Portion size is huge

I've been meaning to come here for quite a while but haven't been able to make it until now. The Zen appears to offer Guyanese style Chinese food. They also have a full bar. I took advantage of one of their weekday lunch specials by ordering the Zen House Chicken on White Rice. This was a pretty good deal at only $6.99. Upgrades to Vegetable Fried Rice for an additional $1.50 or Chicken Fried Rice for $2.00 were available options. Although I was dining in, I was a bit surprised when I received my food in a foam takeout box, along with plastic utensils. That's not what I expected, given the overall ambiance and cleanliness of the place. The food itself was rather plain looking, just chicken on rice, no vegetables, no garnishes. It did, however taste much better than it looked and it was a generous portion, especially considering the price. The service was good - friendly, courteous, and efficient. With good service, good food, and good service, I just wish they would have done better with the presentation.

I have been wanting to try this place for a while and Finally Yesterday I got the opportunity. I tried the chili chicken on Chicken Fried Rice and what can I say I loved the whole meal. Everything is so tasty and as being abit, of a picky eater with peppers I didn't feel the peppers at all, the whole disk completes and blends out. I hope to return sometimes soon and try some other dishes on the menu. Also while on a side note the the staff is super friendly and absolutely amazing and if you want the food to be extra spicy you can ask to add an extra kick to the dish. But be warned I was told customers who ask for it to be more spicy tend to not order it that way again 😂. My recommendation is to keep it orginal because I loved all the flavours.

I dont usually review anything. But I had to becuase I read reviews of this place and they were really good. So I tried the food. Ordered pepper shrimp for 13 dollars tasted great not worth the portion . Ordered the special house fried rice. Its suppose to have shrimp beef pork chicken. I only got chicken in my rice. And the chicken on top of the rice was like pigeon legs.it was a small portion . Rice was missing seasoning Pick up was great the person who was handing your your food and taking the money was very nice

Great food with excellent service. You get a great size portion even for the lunch specials that are from 12-3pm. They have a great variety of hot/pepper sauce, we ended up grabbing 3 because they were so good! Definitely recommend to anyone who loves Caribbeanian dishes!
