10/10. Went on a Wednesday on a whim. What a spot. Happened to be buck a shuck. Big shout out to our server Sean. What a first impression. He really took his time once he knew it was our first time. He took us through the whole menu and made recommendations. Service was super fast, food was phenomenal. Will definitely be adding this place to my regular rotation.

Great food! The music is a bit loud but its nice for group outings! They also have $1 oysters on Tuesday and Wednesdays. Theres 2 different types offered, both taste fresh! Their sushi and beef ribs are also really good!

We were on the hunt for a good mussels place, and my friend recommended Nome Izakaya. But apart from the mussels, everything else that we ordered was just as good! We ordered the mussels, gyoza, sashimi and cali donburi. The sauce of gyoza is nothing that I've tasted before, and it was an experience! The sashimi was fresh -- no fishy taste at all! The donburi though was overpowered by lots of veggies - but overall, our experience here was good! Would highly recommend.

Nome Izakaya was definitely worth the experience. The service was on point. I legit regret not being able to share my servers name. His section was full, yet still he didn't skip a beat. I ordered a unique shot and he figured out a way to get it done. That was awesome on a side note. Back to the food....it was amazing. Ordered 50 oysters, all were fresh and tasty, a little small but that's okay, its not a sea food place like Diana's, so my expectations would be higher for their sushi. Speaking of sushi it was absolutely 🔥🔥. The presentation and speed was very impressive. Especially because they're a fairly new restaurant, and seemed to have worked out all the kinks already. I can't wait for my next visit. I used to trek to a small mom and pop shop in Durham for my sushi. I now have a spot downtown that's not crazily priced. I also had some gyoza which was really good too. The 6 sauces they offered were also 🔥, my personal favourites were the basil, hot sauce and horseradish. In terms of the drinks, they were great also, i ordered some tequila mules. They were served correctly with the copper mug and basil. Can't go wrong with that option. TLDR: Great Experience, great food, great drinks, greta service! P.s. apologies for the dark looking photos. I was too excited and forgot to adjust the exposure 😅

This is a nice place to get some late night sushi, they are open late which is nice when your craving something to eat. I got the lobster Fantasy roll & the seared salmon roll which both were great. I also got the Calamari and popcorn shrimp which seemed a little sad but it was still ok. Only complaint is that I wish they game me chop sticks. I don’t have any where I’m staying so I had to use a fork and my fingers.

Good place for buck-a-shuck but I was most impressed by their kalbi. It was cooked perfectly, marinated well and had a good portion for the price. We also tried their honey butter chips which were a good snack. We tried one of their sushi rolls and while good, wasn't anything to truly be wowed about. See my other reviews on other sushi places I'd prefer versus trying sushi here again. We also tried some of their drinks which were also good but may just stick with pop next time. This place is good for shareable snacks and has great service.

I’ve been going to Nome at their uptown location for years and I can say that this new location is very consistent in quality and taste (maybe even better!) compared to their other locations! Upon being seated, we were promptly greeted by our server who was super pleasant and patient while taking our orders. He was very helpful in explaining to my friend how to do a sake bomb, as it was his first time! We loved it so much we did it a second time! As we visited on a Wednesday evening it was buck-a-shuck (oysters for $1/pc)! They only had one option to choose from, but despite that the oysters were fresh and flavourful with a large variety of sauces and garnished to choose from. My favourite dish of the night had to be the ebi-katsu sliders! Oh my goodness the crunch of the katsu bread paired with the tender shrimp and mayo sauce—delicious! Unfortunately, I was not a big fan of the nome fried chicken as it was too over fried and dry, the sauce was also too spicy for my liking. Overall, this was a very positive and enjoyable dining experience—all the servers were very attentive from filling water glasses, to swapping out plates after our meals. I’d highly recommend making a visit to Nome if you’re in the area!

They finally came downtown! Planned a 3 person birthday dinner here and there was no room for disappointment. The staff pay attention & are also friendly / personable. It’s the spot for a date, celebration, and just a quick evening bite. They’ve got buck a shuck on Tuesdays & Wednesdays and the must try is their honey bread. They’ve got a large patio that was going to open (haven’t been there since to check it out) but the interior decoration is classy, chic, but not overly done where you can’t go in with casual attire and not feel comfortable. Pictures don’t do it justice ! Check it out for yourself! They also have other locations uptown if that’s easier for you!
