Visited Mikaku Undon Bar for the very first time the other day and had a very enjoyable experience. They have done some rebranding from the last owners but they still have a lot of remanence from the previous restaurant. I was looking forward to the maple bacon and garlic fries, but was a little disappointed when it arrived and it was just wedges with bacon bits and green onion. For mains we had the Chicken curry and the Buta Udon. Both were delicious.

The food and atmosphere was amazing. The Spicy Seafood Cream Udon was absolutely amazing. My only complaint was there wasn't enough LOL. The Chicken Curry Udon was also very good. Service was great too - the waitresses were attentive and super sweet. Highly recommended and would come back for sure!

Wow, so this place is a great addition to the neighbourhood and I suspect I’ll be a new go-to place for us. The service is indeed welcoming as reported by others. Food is superb. Rich flavours. The seafood udon is very much east meets west and feels very Italian. Pretty much no question we will be returning soon to try some of the offer offers, which are all so interesting.

I recently visited a newly opened udon restaurant with some friends, who live nearby and recommended it to us. As fans of udon noodles, we were all excited to give it a try. Between the four of us, we ordered the Buta Udon, Sausage Feast Udon, Spicy Seafood Cream Udon, and Beef Brisket Udon. While the udon noodles themselves were excellent with a nice, chewy texture, I found the Spicy Seafood Cream Udon to be a bit disappointing. The cream sauce was quite thick and tasted more like a concentrated chowder, and I had hoped for more of a seafood aroma. Additionally, the seafood (shrimp and mussels) seemed to have been boiled separately and added to the dish rather than cooked in the sauce, so the flavors didn’t blend as well as I expected. The accompanying French bread could also have been better, as it wasn’t toasted and lacked the texture I usually enjoy. As for my friend’s Sausage Feast Udon, it had only a small amount of sausage, so the dish’s name felt a little misleading. However, another friend really enjoyed the Beef Brisket Udon and highly recommended it. One small issue we encountered was that the beers were served a bit too warm, which was unfortunate. We also requested water refills, but it seemed to have been overlooked by the server, though they were otherwise friendly. Overall, while the udon noodles were well-prepared, the flavors and portions didn’t quite justify the price for me. With some adjustments, this restaurant could certainly become a great spot for udon lovers.

📍: MIKAKU UDON BAR | ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 📸: maze udon, buta udon, chicken curry udon, cream udon, matcha cheesecake I have heard rave reviews from friends regarding their markham location so when we heard there was a new location downtown, we had to pop by!! I adore noodles and was craving some tasty udon and this place delivered I ordered the maze udon and it was delicious. It's a saucey umami bomb served with an egg yolk, green onions and best tempered with a dash of vinegar. when you're finished the noodles they also give you some rice to really soak up the rest of that delicious sauce. The noodle texture was done well with nice al dente bounce to the udon. The buta udon was also lovely, perfect dashi broth for the cooler weather and I always have a soft spot for pork belly. We were also able to try the chicken curry udon and the spicy cream udon (variation on like a mentaiko udon). Both very lovely and more on the rich side. The curry is not the japanese curry cube style but more creamy and cheesy. They also have an in house pastry chef and tried the most lovely matcha cheesecake with a raspberry compote Service was fantastic. shout out to Miyoung!! She was fantastic :)) They were super accommodating for the larger group, food came out promptly, and they were very attentive. They were able to seat larger groups and they also have a room available if you have a larger party. Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to get their noodle fill! Don't sleep on it before it becomes super busy hehe. I will very much be returning for some more delicious udon

Really liked this place, and this is from someone who is usually indifferent to udon. Think I like how they offer soup-based and soup-less udon, and how even their non-udon dishes are really tasty. We got: - Seared Buta: The pork belly was perfectly seared, filling without being fatty. Also loved the sweetness to it. - Spicy Seafood Cream Udon: A bit heavy on the cream and light on the seafood. Liked the kick of the sauce, and how chewy-tender the udon noodles were. - Beef Brisket Udon: Salty and smoky. Would have liked more beef since it was really tender and tasty. And udon noodles were just as good. - Matcha Cheesecake: Perfect. Not overly sweet or heavy, yet satisfying to my sweet tooth. Place has a very welcoming vibe. Service was friendly, kitchen was quick. Prices were reasonable. They also have a great backyard for outdoor seating during warmer weather. Can definitely see myself coming back here to satisfy my udon craving.

The herbal chicken udon was delicious! The broth was very savoury and the portion was satisfying. I really liked the piece of crispy rice that comes with it. We also got an onigiri, oden udon and beef brisket udon which were all really good as well. At the end, the server surprised us with a free matcha cheesecake with blueberry sauce on top. She said they were considering adding it to their menu. It had a unique texture and was really tasty. We told her they should definitely add it! Service was very friendly and the space is modern and clean.
