Kish's Roti & Doubles (Formerly Lena's)

This was initially posted for the wrong location. This is for the Eddystone location. Decided to try this location on Monday November 25th around 4pm since I was in the area. I purchased a few sweets, mainly pone and fudge, and a few other items totalling $49.65 and paid by debit. NOTE: I’m being very specific here as I no longer have my receipt but the proprietor can check their cash register roll if they doubt this review. It wasn’t until I got home (at the west end of the city) that I noticed that two of the fudge had an expiry date of November 15th. I went to share one of the pone squares today, November 28th, and noticed it had mold on it. This must have been there for some time for this to occur. Clearly, they’re lacking in QA and/or turnover is low. Also, the counter staff wasn’t knowledgeable about the products they were carrying as she couldn’t answer simple questions on the rum cake and other dishes. I usually go to another place up the street from here but was on a time crunch and couldn’t make it there. First and last time here.

Doubles are prepared sloppy. More expensive and smaller than the previous owner. Very gritty taste like sand. The Bara have no taste.

I work next door and I eat here very consistently and never get sick of it! The food is perfectly sweet and spicy and the meet is so tender. Good prices especially for the doubles i reccommend the lamb doubles or the goat plate its amazing!

I didn't expect Indian food, I didn't see not one Carribean person in this establishment. I was shocked after taking a bite I was not able to get up from the toilet. What ever you do Don't EAT THE DOUBLES unless you have a strong belly. I've only been there ONCE keep in mind but that experience was good enough not to return. I've had doubles all over the city and this is one I will not return to. Lady on the phone was nice spoke fast understood very little as we had to repeat ourselves multiple times. I might return if I know there's a Carribean chef 🙏🏿

Expensive and Distasteful food out of all Lena’s Rotis location. The chicken and the Dhalpuri were under cooked. The chicken was raw and the portion size was small. The front server was running back and forth between the kitchen and front. Really bad experience at this location. Had to throw out all the food. The small chicken Roti is $11.99 however other locations it’s max around $8

I waited for 5 minutes before someone even came to the front counter. Only reason she came out to the front was because the phone rang. Didn’t acknowledge me while I stood there and she took a large phone order for another 5 minutes. Let me offer you some friendly advice, next time you see a customer in person, acknowledge them and here’s an idea, put the person ordering by phone on hold. Very disappointing service. Also, be sure to ask for cutlery and napkins on a takeout order as they don’t put that either. Food was great tho actually lol

Some of the best doubles you will get in the area, especially the lamb. Goat and regular are good as well. You know that you are in for a treat when you can hear the fryer tickling the dough right after you place your order. YES PLEASE FRESH FOOD. And the price is on point! Jerk chicken meal is nothing to rave about but this is a roti and double place anyways. Still, if you are looking for price point and quantity then you might like it.

Got this from Uber eats. The food I got was a bit salty and it's not as good as other locations. Uber also had a special for 2 for 1 doubles I ordered three and only got three. Unfortunately I will be crossing this place off my places to eat on Uber eats sorry just being honest.
