Kebab 49 - Turkish Restaurant

The staff are very friendly and professional—they really know their job. However, the food was just okay, not great. I've had much better versions of the same dishes at other places in Toronto, especially the Iskender Kebab.

Food: 3 Stars Service: 4 Stars Ambience: 3 Stars Value: 3 Stars Overall: 3.25 Stars Kebab 49 has a really welcoming atmosphere, and the staff are incredibly friendly, which is always a big plus. From the moment we walked in, we felt at ease with the warm service and the traditional decor, which gave the space a charming, authentic feel. The restaurant was clean and well-maintained. Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite match the great vibe of the restaurant. We were a bit disappointed with the overall quality. First off, the bread was much too heavy and dense for our liking. It didn’t have the light, airy texture you’d expect from fresh, warm bread, and it ended up weighing down the dish, making it harder to enjoy. The meat, which should have been the star of the show, was unfortunately very oily and tough to chew. It had an unpleasant greasiness to it, which made the whole dish feel heavy and less enjoyable. We were hoping for more of that charred, flavourful kebab experience, but instead, it just felt greasy and overcooked. While the service was definitely positive, the food left a lot to be desired. The quality needs improvement, especially when it comes to the freshness of ingredients and the overall balance of flavours. We had high hopes for this place, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite meet our expectations in terms of the meal itself. Overall, Kebab 49 has potential, but the food definitely needs an upgrade. With fresher ingredients and a better balance in the dishes, it could be a much better spot. Until then, we may be looking for other places to get our kebab fix. xx kellychan360

We had a wonderful time here. They were very kind and let us move closer to their beautiful wood burning oven so we could be warmer on this snowy winter day, and we were able to watch our pide being made. We ordered a mixed pide and a mixed kebab to share, and we have enough leftovers for another meal for probably 1 person. The food was amazing, very authentic tasting. The music was popping. We came at an off peak hour, around 3pm so there were only a couple other tables seated when we arrived but the tables were starting to fill up as we were there, we left around 5pm. It seems like a family-friendly restaurant. This was a great place to have our first date postpartum, we left our 24 day old with my MIL, and this restaurant was the perfect way to spend it. Truly, you should give this place a try!

Great selection of food. Portions are huge. The downside is there is no alcoholic drinks. Other than that it was a good lunch. Will I go again ?? Not sure !!! I don’t like someone else religious beliefs affects my normal eating habits. Next time I might get a takeout and enjoy home with my choice of drinks Thanks for the great service 🙏

We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! Fayaz served us, and everything was fantastic—the food, service, and atmosphere. We started with the appetizer plate, enjoyed the Iskender kebab and kebab plate for 2, and finished with turkish coffee ,tea, kunefe and baklava for dessert. Highly recommended!

It's difficult to find a Turkish grill restaurant in GTA that reminds me of my last visit in Istanbul. I realize it's not fair, but I really love that city and its gourmet scene. So when I went to Kebab 49 with a bunch of friends, I had unreasonably high expectations. And they were all met. We ordered a huge plate of mixed grill and a smaller veal and lamb doner plate. The word "small" was more comparative in nature, as each plate was stacked generously with tender and tasty meats. The Adana kebabs were my favourite, they were so flavourful. The veal was so tender, it melted in our mouth. Don't miss the desserts while you're at it! The baklava was on point, but the kunefe was worth the 20 minute wait when we ordered it. The owner was very gracious, and the server Osman treated well during our meal.

This Turkish kebab restaurant is a true gem, offering incredible food, a vibrant atmosphere, and top-notch service. The kebabs are perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection, and the entire menu is packed with authentic flavors. The vibe is warm and inviting, making it a great spot for both casual dining and special occasions. A special shoutout to the gentleman who bakes the food—he was extremely friendly and made our experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this place for anyone craving delicious Turkish cuisine!

A True Taste of Turkey This restaurant is an absolute gem, offering a 100% authentic Turkish experience—right down to the warm hospitality of the Turkish staff. Having dined here multiple times, I can confidently say this place never disappoints. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between modern and cozy. The wood-fired ovens, fully visible in the rear kitchen, add a charming, rustic touch, making the whole space feel inviting and genuine. Portion sizes are incredibly generous. I ordered the chicken shish kebab, and it was not just a meal but a feast. It took me a good 30 minutes to savor every bite, and the flavors were simply outstanding. Our server, Hebua, enhanced the experience with her friendly and attentive service. The food arrived impressively fast—within 10 minutes—without compromising quality. My only complaint is that they do not serve alcohol. If you're looking for a place that offers authenticity and excellent service, this restaurant should be at the top of your list. Highly recommended!
