Finally made it to Gateau Ghost after wanting to come for a while. The atmosphere of the place is really great but have to admit, the madeleines were a bit disappointing in terms of texture and flavour. Service was a bit odd. We didn’t know they didn’t do brunch service on certain days so we were waiting to be seated for a few minutes, while the unoccupied server was just staring, until we finally asked and they said they don’t do brunch on Mondays. I guess we should have confirmed before going, but they could have more clear signage for that.

Solid brunch spot, but don't expect to be mindblown! I recommend the baked goods here. The front of the store is a bakery, and the back is a restaurant with an open kitchen. Servers are all friendly. Menu includes some Korean-French fusion items. We walked in on Sunday around 10:30am and we got to sit at the bar within 10 minutes. Table seating was close to 45 mins wait. We got the strawberry Danish, biscoff Madeleine, steak frites, ricotta French toast, and a strawberry matcha drink. The standout item for me was the Danish, it was generously topped with strawberry jam and fresh strawberry. The steak was not seared at all, and the fries were a little bland. The ricotta French toast was not too sweet, in fact it was on the savory side. The texture was perfect but the taste was nothing special. The biscoff madeleine was good. Prices are standard for brunch, baked goods are in the pricey end.

Great coffee, baked goods and breakfast. Beautiful aesthetic and friendly service. Note your party won't be seated until they all arrive. Highly recommend the shrimp toast!

Gateau Ghost is a solid pick. The vibe as soon as you walk in is super warm and inviting. The servers were very personable. I’d say the portions were generous for what you pay for! Good food - the Parmesan fries, orange olive oil cake and sticky toffee pudding stood out to me the most. This is a spot I’ll be bringing more friends to!

Officially my new favorite cafe for brunch in the city! The wait for a table was only 20 mins on a Saturday afternoon. All the food was amazing and we already plan to come back to try other items on the menu. Highly recommend the blueberry matcha and baked goods. Considering that brunch spots in Toronto usually have 1-2 hour wait times with limited seating and selective menus, I’d say Gateau Ghost is a way better option for weekend brunch.

Everything was so amazing. Such a cute cafe at the front with very different twist of baked goods! Really love it I end up buying like 4 small boxs with different flavors. I share with friends and family. They all love it and want to go and have brunch. Brunch is also very cute and different from other places! Tastes really lovely. Such a good vibe. Friendly staff that make good conversation here and there. Me and my friend really enjoy everything here❤️

All I can say is wow.... The attention to detail in the menu is phenomenal as well as atmosphere. It’s popular for a reason..! The shrimp toast was great to share and was so delicious that it tasted better than I expected. Also, I've tried a lot of French toast before, but the one I had here was the most impressive one. gateau ghost exceeded our expectations in every way. highly recommended

I went to this popular brunch spot on Saturday. I really liked its decor, which was very minimalist. I joined the waitlist on OpenTable in advance, so I didn't have to wait long. I highly recommend the cereal shrimp toast. The shrimp were large, and the French toast was very soft and rich in flavor. Definitely will visit this place again ~
