August 8 Stoney Creek is a new restaurant in Hamilton opened more than 6 months ago.
August 8 was originally established in 2008 where its first location opened in downtown Hamilton, Ontario. As a new concept of dining, it was recognized as the first restaurant of its kind in the area to bring the finest aspects of both Cantonese-style dim sum & Japanese cuisine. The name “August” represented a new restaurant concept for its time and expressed the future vision of the company; the “8” next to August was simply the brand logo (a reinterpretation of “August” in Chinese characters).

I was picking up an order for my family. i just want to express gratitude for Edison working hard at the front of the house, managing tables while dealing with pick up orders and delivery people. I also want to thank the other diligent staff working hard with the restaurant at maximum capacity. Patience is important and I respect that they have a lot to do. Overall expensive as usual but I always treat the service staff with respect and patience because I know what it is like and I appreciate their kindness when I'm doing takeout. I may have had to wait at the front lobby for a pickup order 15 minutes longer than expected due to them needing to seat people waiting for seats, but I respect the hustle. Good job. Glad to see the music was more classy on January 1st 2025 instead of the other playlists I've heard. P.S August 8 should not be compared to Mandarin (Mandarin is actual rubbish food, and an Americanized buffet). August 8 Stoney Creek has made some changes over the years to the menu but let's hope it evolves and they keep the better items.

The entire evening was beautiful. The place was busy but all the staff had smiles on their faces and very polite. The food was fantastic - it was fresh and very tasty. The decorations were very nice, the music was at a pleasant level where you could listen but still converse. The service was fast and efficient. Our server was incredible, and easy to converse with. The washrooms were clean and having mouthwash dispenser is a very thoughtful detail to have. Overall, the service was top notch. Will return soon!

First time here, Food quality of certain dishes was not great specially waagu and would not come back. I guess my sushi quality expectations are pretty high. High on quantity and average on quality best way to put it.

Ok. Let me begin by saying one thing. Do not do what we did and order all your food first. I had the mistaken impression that I should order everything at the beginning in case they do not come back to the table often. Don't do this!!! The servers are amazing and ordering a few choices at a time will leave more relaxed and will also force you to not over indulge. The food was great. The only thing I didn't like was the sweet and sour soup. Everything else was great. I especially liked the duck. Book a reservation online, especially on weekends. Loads of parking in the area. Allow for traffic if you are going up the mountain on a Friday night. So all I can say, is go there hungry and I assure you that you will go home full!!!!

I'm absolutely stuffed! 🤤 This all-you-can-eat place is incredible. So much delicious food, I could barely try everything. Seriously, if you're looking for a great meal, you need to check this out. It's even better than any of the places I've tried in a nearby town. I can't recommend it enough! Make sure you go hungry because you'll want to try a bit of everything. 😉 #AllYouCanEat #Foodie #WorthTheHype

We visited on Saturday night at 10 pm for the all-you-can-eat sushi. Unfortunately, the experience was underwhelming. The food was mediocre, and there are certainly better sushi places elsewhere. Service was notably slow, even though the restaurant wasn't busy. We placed our order upon arrival, but some items didn’t come until we reminded them after 1 hour and 10 minutes. We were cautious about over-ordering to avoid extra charges, which meant we spent 30 minutes just waiting. Additionally, the AC was too cold, and they couldn't adjust the temperature, so we ended up having to wear jackets. We even waited to get the bill!

Food is great as always. We go for the seaweed salad and miso soup first. After, we moved on to the skewers and grilled stuff. Then, we have sushi rolls and sashimi. I suggest just getting water or tea so you don’t get full fast on having carbonated drinks. I find the place organized, seating depending on how many people are with you. Definitely come back soon!

My overall experience was good. We checked in on a kiosk because no one was there at the front desk when we came in. It wasn't particularly busy when we arrived but there was a crowd when we left. While I waited, I saw a couple walk past the kiosk into the seating area and were seated. Then I followed and was told we'd be seated shortly, which did happen. The ambience and atmosphere was good. The food was typical for sushi. The all you can eat menu was lengthy with many great options. But I didn't like the flamed sushi as it tasted like whatever fuel they used to char it with. There is an upcharge for wasted food so we had to force down our poor choice. It costs $40 for adults 12+ and half price for children 12 and under. So for a family of 4 depending on the age of your kids you could run $160 - $120. Drink costs are a separate charge with no free refills so our overall bill came up to $200+. You also have a time limit of about 2 hours to eat. So with the upcharge for food wasting, bad tasting flamed sushi, time limit and cost I rate it 3.5 stars but there aren't any half stars.
